Press Release on the occasion of The Pharmacy Expo (The Palace, Sliema 23rd September 2015) and World Pharmacists’ Day on 25th September 2015

The Kamra Tal-Ispizjara Ta’ Malta held a Pharmacy Expo on the occasion of World Pharmacists’ Day which is celebrated globally today the 25 September.

This is a new and unique event in the Kamra’s calendar of activities which is organized under the auspices of the International Pharmacy Federation, (FIP).

This year’s theme is “The Pharmacist – Your Partner in Healthcare’.

For this day, FIP is encouraging the world’s pharmacists to organise activities that promote and advocate for the role of the pharmacist in improving health in every corner of the world.
Across the globe our profession is clearly demonstrating all the requirements of great partnerships; shared goals, commitment, vital skills and rapport, as well as the ability to have difficult talks and to overcome obstacles.
On this occasion, the Kamra calls on Government to value the contribution of Pharmacists wherever they practice and empower especially, in this context, the community pharmacists, to develop further their services in primary health care.
World Pharmacists Day celebrates the Pharmacy profession and its many partnerships. The Kamra wants it to promote the valuable role pharmacists play — and could play — in bringing about the goal of health for all.
Whilst saluting all pharmacists wherever they may practice – and it is important to underscore the various areas of practice of pharmacists today – Hospitals, policy and administration, wholesale dealing, pharmaceutical marketing, academia, and regulatory – the Kamra is particularly celebrating Community Pharmacists which are considered as the fulcrum of the profession.

The Pharmacy Expo is an exhibition of Consumer Healthcare Displays especially (but not limited to) Health and Beauty featuring cosmeceuticals, nutricosmetics, nutraceuticals, screening services and provided advice for weight loss, lifestyle management and non-communicable diseases.

It was opened by the Hon. Minister for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties, Dr. Helena Dalli who also visited the different stands.
