A delegation of the Kamra led by the President Mary Ann Sant Fournier met HE the President of Malta Marie Louise Coleiro Preca at San Anton Palace on Monday 8 February. The Kamra delegation consisted of Chamber Secretary Max Borg Millo and Treasurer and PRO Claire Calleja, together with Council members Mary Anne Ciappara, Claire Shoemake and John Vella. Ms. Sant Fournier explained the Kamra’s raison d’etre, achievements and aspirations in the service of the profession, members and society. She centred on the role of the pharmacist in the community and in the service of the most vulnerable.

The Kamra gave an update on the MCCF funded project on obesity as a disability and diabetes. Discussions then focussed on the pharmacist in support of cancer patients and on patients with other serious or rare conditions. HE expressed her belief in the important roles played by pharmacists in the community and expressed the wish to address pharmacists at a forthcoming update on cancer on which the Kamra is working together with the Department of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. More information will be issued soon on this event. The Kamra and HE agreed to continue with effective dialogue on a way forward for more involvement of pharmacists in the areas of interest to the MCCF to achieve common goals.
