The University of Malta has recently changed the course structure leading to the qualification that enables a graduate to register as a pharmacist. The new entry level qualification to the profession of pharmacy shall be the MPharm degree. This consists of a two cycle education, namely- 4 years leading to a BSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences followed by a three semester cycle leading to the degree of M. Pharm. The Kamra ta' l-Ispizjara the' Malta has been proactive in the recent months in giving its feedback to the Medicines Authority re the publication on an Information Leaflet on Refrence, Generic and Falsified Medicines. Dr. Patricia Vella Bonanno, CEO, Medicines Authority said that this second leaflet published by the Medicines Authority is part of the set of initiatives to consolidate efforts in providing objective and unbiased information on medicines to health care professionals and to patients. The Medicines Authority has just launched a new service through which medical practitioners, dentists, pharmacists and health care professionals can recieve sms notifications with the latest information on medicinal products. The service is available free of charge for product recalls and when a Medicines Authority Circular is issued.
